• Territories

Gruffudd ap Cynan, King of Gwynedd, has had an eventful career. He is now in a very solid position in the north of Wales, having defeated the local Marcher Lords at the Battle of Trefaldwyn and having wrested control of Ceredigion from Gruffudd ap Rhys of Deheubarth.

  • Army

His army makes extensive use of light spear, able to use bad terrain and solid against cavalry, but weaker than regular spear against close-order foot in the open. He also frequently employs Irish or Hiberno-Norse mercenaries.

  • Minor Allies

Gruffudd has relatively good relations with Gruffudd ap Rhys, King of Deheubarth, despite wresting Ceredigion from him. He is on very bad terms with Robert of Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury, chief of the Welsh Marcher Lords, who sees him as the greatest obstacle to expansion into Wales. Otherwise, his relations with Godred Crovan, King of Dublin are neutral.
